Twenty drum sounds. Four effects. One frame at a time.
A 67.8-second instrumental built with our C++ synthesizer: tuned drum hooks, a changing percussion groove, and effects controlled entirely by an XML score.
At 100 BPM in 4/4, the score develops across 28 bars. The drum component creates every musical sound; the effects component shapes selected voices through a controllable send.
Nineteen generated sample tables and a live synthesized kick. Each note has its own pitch, amplitude, duration, envelope, and routing, with overlapping voices supported.
A persistent series chain of noise gate, sinusoidal ring modulation, stereo chorus, and compression. XML events change the settings as the score plays.
The shared system schedules notes, creates active instrument voices, mixes their dry and effects-send signals, and writes each completed stereo frame to the output WAV. It does not build a full-song output array.
“Desi Groove” is an original composition. AI assistance was used to help compose the XML scores and to develop and troubleshoot parts of the synthesizer. The project builds on the course’s Step 5 Synthie framework and supplied audio support code.
